 ACADEMIC TUTORING:    My role is to guide students to 1) become confident and competent writers, and 2) use their reasoning skills with a renewed sense of purpose in school, college, and beyond. Toward that end, I listen carefully to their interests, concerns, and goals in order to meet their specific needs. This approach allows me to tailor a program that students will find rewarding, challenging, useful, and even fun.

An important outcome of working one-on-one with students is helping them build self-confidence, leading to clearer writing, improved grades, and higher test scores. Tutoring sessions emphasize fundamental skills of reflection, inquiry, analysis, and evidence.
 
COLLEGE ADMISSION COUNSELING: I work closely with students as they navigate the uneasy task of filling out applications and composing essays. I take them into the heart of the process including:

• Identifying colleges that match a student's academic abilities, extracurricular activities,   geographic preferences, and personality
  
• Crafting a strategy for early and regular admission
• Offering specific guidance on letters of recommendation and interview preparation
• Brainstorming on  essay topics;  critiquing essays and  providing actionable feedback on content, organization, and expression;  and most importantly giving voice to a student’s aspirations
  

 I meet with students and families in person and also via  Skype or Zoom. ​Either way, students receive real-time feedback, direction, and accomplish goals.
